What is a slave patch and what is a dill ring? Thanks Bonnie

A dill Ring or a Sag ring is when there is an eternal crack in the pumpkin causing it to form differently

A slave patch...that is a patch that makes you work all season and gives you nothing back...lol..thats not correct but it sounds good.

OK now I have studied long and yard, entered slave into the search feature. The Slave Patch you refer to comes from The Wiz.(he is part of the problem the other half of the time G is not) His slave patch refers to a smaller than usual patch off in the corner of the yard. Where he gets this term from I believe is. Back in the day, when people were forced to do labor on a farm or plantation. They were often given a smaller, lower quality plot of land to grow food on.

I have named my patches, the prime patch is my best patch that I have worked for years.....my slave patch is the new patch that I am now slaving in to catch up with my prime patch......at least that is how I have been looking at it......so my prime patch gets my best seed, the slave patch is second......
