I was at the Co-op today "browsing" in the fertilzers and amendments and saw this stuff called "Messenger" which basically consisted of 3% hapin protein. Messenger is supposed to encourage fruit growth and plant development(and other things which I can't remember since I didn't buy the $18 package of the stuff). Have any of you ever spent the 18 bucks to try this stuff?

Rumor has it it promotes early maturation of the crop...not what we want...we want delayed senescence

used it a couple of years ago with terrible results. caught hell from a couple of growers for messing with my plants like that. i don't think its ever a good idea to infect your plant with something that makes it want to ramp up it's defenses. plant's energy should be directed at growing larger rather than fighting something it senses is trying to attack it. tom

tried it on a plant that was a little behind. split it from shape problems, but i didn't see any real change with it.
