I live in mid missouri, my last frost date is aproximately april 15. When should I start my seeds indoors? This is my first time trying to do this. Thank you for your help!

Hi Kelly!

It all depends on when you want your pumpkin to be finished! If you plan on entering your pumpkin in any fairs around Labor Day, you should start them the 3rd or 4th week in April. I usually start my "weigh-off" pumpkins in early May. Some fairs are before Labor Day, so you may want to start for them earlier. I think I can safely say that "most" of the big pumpkins at they weigh-off "germinated" the first and second week in May.

Good Luck and Have Fun!

sounds like you've got plenty of growing season if you are going to a weigh off take the day of the show count back 120 days and that will give you an aproxamate planting day if that day falls before your last expected frost date start your seeds indoors i file the edges of my seed to help the young seedling shed the seed hull
