This year looks like Ill be growing more un-proven seeds then I will be growing proven seeds. I dont know about you guys but this is by far my toughest year on deciding what to grow. The only no brainer of the unproven to grow is the 1450 Wallace. Any of you guys or gals growing these unprovens?
903 Dill '05 -(802 Dill x 810 Dill) 1173 Liggett'06 -(1353 Liggett x 664 Liggett) 982 Northrup'06 -( 1101 Northrup x 810 Dill) 832 LaRue '06 -(1139 Sherwood x 1068 Wallace) 901 Lyons '06 -(1446 x 842 Eaton) 1295 Jutras'05 -(842 Eaton x 801 Stelts) 626 Bosworth '05 -(1446 x 1260 Weir) 813 Foss '06 -(699 Bosworth x 845 Bobier'99) 556 Bosworth'06 -( 699 Bosworth x 845 Bobier'00) 493 Kirts 06 -( 699 Bosworth x 500 Northrup) Nice Orange Cross
Ill tell you another one I really like is Joe pukos 748 Seed (1370 Rose x 1231 Pukos)
Man, what a tuff year on deciding. What other new or unproven seeds do you guys think will be good ones?

I'm considering the 982 for the 2008 season depending on how it does this year. I may decide on one of it's offspring instead if there is a cross from it that catches my eye.

Brooks...you are right on about the tough choices considering the 2006 seed bank. The genetics have come very far, very fast. All of seeds mentioned WILL grow 1000+ lb fruit....no doubt in my mind!

If you like over the chart possibilities:
1065 McKie - 1407 (+10.79%) X 1068 (+20%) 1041 McKie - 842 (18.77%) X 1068 (+20%)
602 Simpson - 1260 (+15%) X 670 (+23%) 553 Simpson - 670 (+23%) X self
564 Zaychkowsky - 898 (+15%) X 1068 522 Zaychkowsky - 935 (+16%) X 898
1112 Larue - 1312 Sperry (+25%) X 1173 Macari 1064 Larue - 1333 Connolly (+19%) X 1139 Sherwood
977 Wallace - 1354 (+27%) X 1068
One offspring: 1085 Boor - (1370 X self) = 998 +36% 899 Kurkowski - (1068 X 1104) = 523 +34% 460 Clark - (1180 X 845) = +28% 961 Urena = 1032 +24%
Two offspring: 1334 Daletas - +20%, +18%
Never grown a pumpkin less than 10% and 7% heavy respectively: 1407 Wolf 822 Hester

With all the great genetics out there expressed in different offspring, it appears that the limiting factor of growth potential is no longer the seed but the grower.

I Like that 822 Hester aswell Beet. Its just now started to see some growing time in the last couple years. I look for it to be grown alot more this year. Although THE 822 grows a pretty ugly looking pumpkin, your right it does go heavy, and its progeny grows ugly but real heavy aswell, like the 1139 Sherwood. The 1139 Sherwood has grown 4 over a 1000lbs last year and has grown some extremly heavy pumpkins.(Like the 839 Larue 32% Heavy,1308 Mckie 12% Heavy,1131 LaRue 05' 15% heavy.
Seems like if you can get a 822 in a seeds background chances are it has a good chance of going real heavy.
