Map of the GPC weighed (official) 1100+ pounders.
a few things to note:
- might take a few minutes on dialup. it's based off Google maps.
- pins were set by zipcode of grower. in cases where there were multiple pumpkins over 1100 from a grower, or multiple growers from the same town, i went with the heaviest.
- 1300+ = blue, 1200 = orange, 1100 = purple, squash = green
- I tried entering all 1000+ pumpkins, but there were too many pins, and the program consolidated the pins in certain areas, making it look horrible. I had to cut back to the over 1100 crowd.
- Sorry Anders, I couldn't figure out how to get a pin on Sweden for your 1180. I should have that figured out by next winter when you grow another big one ;)
- I will put a similar type of map together for the 2007 GPC weighoff sites when we have all the applications returned. the popups will have more information, and even a picture. I should have a quick demonstration available at the falls.

whoops, i fixed it. not sure how i forgot about that one. might be hard to see since it's just behind the 1208. you'd have to zoom in close to see it.

Andy nice map. I agree with what Lisa is trying to say, a pumpkin is a pumpkin let's not get hung up on clubs or organizations.

Glenn............raise hell with AOL! My guess is it's larger than they or your ISP will accept. The only people I have trouble sending reasonably high resolution pix to are AOL accounts. If the pix are attacthments they usually go through.

Very nice! But how about Kenny Blair, Bountiful Utah? Gotta have a least one pin in all that vast area between Iowa and the left coast.
We could make a map that shows every state and province (and countries of europe) top ten list.

yep, sorry about the gpc only, it was an easy list for me to grab the numbers and locations off from. i think there were probably a half dozen 1100+ off the top of my head grown last year non-gpc that could be on there.

While I normally think yea team in this issue I think the person or GPC needs to include known others. Presently there is just no way all growers can make a GPC weigh off. We are growing. At least presently in an non-award type listing such as this all known flags should be posted. The start of area recognition begins here. A mistake or misuse on occasion could be removed oir changed by area opinion just as easily as it could be listed. If an area gets cluttered as was mentioned there is no need to be concerned about an ommission of a specific fact. This very fine begining shows exciting trends and happenings only. ....This is a tidbit that I think is very good. This map brings new meaning to the "Orange Zones". Hats off to the creator. We all like to follow a leader. Your leaders are or can be shown with minor changes and inclusions.
