Guys & Gals,

How many seeds do you have that aren't from pumpkins you grew??

I'm only starting my 2nd year of growing, and I'm amazed at how many I have.

Kenny, am happy for you, I have accumulated several seeds myself, these are some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet..but I bet you could take all of your seeds X all of my seeds X 1000 and there would still be a couple of brokers...sorry growers...out there that would still have more seed than that.If ever in need of a particular seed contact one of the members of this fine upstanding club, in our sport they are commonly referred to as seed hoe's,not sure who is this years president of this exclusive group, but he has more than 16 seeds thats for sure....lmao

I think some folks are a little reluctant to answer this post as they don't want to admit that they are seed hounds. Personally, this is my forth season. My seed collections currently has about 1300 seeds from about 700 pumpkins and squash. I expect this to be around 15-1600 by spring. My plan is to keep all seeds for planting or trading until they are at least 5 years old, then any surplus seeds will either be donated to a club for fundraising or to be given out to new growers. I don't want to see any seeds go to waste.

There are just too many seeds John. To donate old seeds to a club sounds great on paper and goes with conservation, generosity etc but doesn't neccessarily help the march towards 2000lbs. Donate CURRENT genetics to the clubs...that way one can find out what they will do/can do. It sounds good on paper to donate the old unsuccessful unprovens but more likely than not the progeny wont be grown either....just my two cents.
