I would like to start a discussion on the value of proposing a Club News Forum on BP. I'd also like to hear if people would use this type of forum to find out what's new and upcoming with the many clubs scattered about the land. Last year at Niagara, I presented the thought of compiling just such a forum or website, where growers could browse the latest and greatest happenings with all the clubs. While well received, it never got off the ground. What I envision now, as a starting place would be a forum on BP in which club officials, webmasters and members would post the lastest goings on with their club. Since BP is The Place where pumpkin growers congregate to learn and read the volumes of information housed here, what better place to find out whats going on in all the clubs. It would of course be open for anyone to post, but it would also allow the grower to see that there is something new happening with a club or their website, then go to their website to see what it's all about. I see a benefit for the clubs, the growers and the BP community in doing this. I would enjoy hearing your thoughts. As an example, the Maine Pumpkin Growers Organization has just added a new feature called Radio MePGO to their website at www.mainepumpkins.com To my knowledge, this is unique right now to a pumpkin club site, but very easily done by any other site. Thanks for your time folks, only 81 days 'til plantin' day.

I think that is an excellent idea. The clubs in my area have web sites but are rarely updated. Not trying to disrepect those who update the site, I understand that these are all volunteer organizations and those people also have lives which keep them busy and there just aren't enough hours in the day. I have noticed a few updates from those clubs here at BP. I am a member of one of the clubs in the area, so I get their newsletter which is a valuable resource and has updates of when club events will be happening. I have been considering joining/supporting the only other one that I know of in the area, but so far haven't been impressed enough with mainly this area in particular. I am interested in their growers seminars and being able to attend would be the ice breaker which gets me to join.
I have been anxiously awaiting an update to their website. It would be very convenient for prospective members to come here and be able to easily access that information. Especially so for those clubs which do not have thier own web sites.
Also, prospective members may be encouraged more to join organizations which are not in their area because of what these clubs have to offer and their level of member involvement.

Great idea! In starting yet another club here in the Rocky Mountain area, I think this would be a great idea. Another category on BP, Club news, maybe an email formatted meeting (net meeting) or like a seed auction that members of the club boards could communicate with to improve communications
