Is a sag line and a Dill ring the same thing? If they are different, how so? Finally what causes them? thanks KathyT

Sag line, I thought only women folk got them Kathy?,,,,,,,,,LOL, oK BEFORE YOU GET WORKED UP HERE iM ONLY kIDDING,lol.
I think a sag line and dill ring are close to being the same Kathy.

I don't think they're too different from each other. As far as I know... they can be genetic or caused by environmental conditions such as odd weather.

Brooks, bad man, bad man lol Kathy my 1247 Handy last year had a major sag line, I thought it would split on me the whole season.

a sag line and dill ring is one in the same thing. some choose to call it a sag line so as not to associate any imperfection with the name dill ( i agree)
either way they are caused by internal splits indide the fruit. most all sag lines run opposite to the ribs on your pumpkin. thats where the problem will develop.
the rib runs north/south for example and the internal crack ( kinda like a wedge cut in the shape of a v) runs east west.
as the fruit grows the more likely you may have a pin hole blowout where these two intersect.
unfortunately some of todays best producing seeds do throw sag lines. its a crap shoot but if your growing for competition you just hope to get past this possible problem.
