I put a picture of the 946.5* Carlson/Peterson squash in the photo gallery,(should be up soon) and I gotta say, this is one of the darkest green squash I have ever seen. Its shape is also outstanding. "Iowegian " also has a picture of the 945.5 in his diary

If you just grow pumpkins, and not squash, this squash might just change your mind into growing a 1086* Carlson/Peterson seed. I just happend to stumble onto to the 946.5 by accident seaching for info on the AGGC a couple days ago. When I seen the picture of this 946.5 squash it made me change my seed line up real fast. Im sure glad I have a 1086* seed cause if I didnt this post would have been a little diffrent and on the seed trading board with me looking for one of these seeds, lol.
I havnt heard not one thing about this squash and was wondering if anyone is growing ether the 946.5* or the 1086* that grew the 946.5 . I cant believe I havnt heard much about ether seed The 946.5* is one true green and perfect shaped squash. Check the pictures out and let me know what you think.

Dan was very generous to me this year as seed trading goes and sent me a 946.5. I, too, have seen its beauty and have offered one to Bryan Reeb, who, along with his girlfriend, grew two beauties for last year's SOGPG weigh-off in Chillicothe.
I know Bryan will grow it and I may too someday. I don't think Dan would mind that I offered one to him.
Good luck Bryan, and don't tell your girlfriend!

I haven't grown squash in the past, but I am definitely planting the 946.5 this year!! What you might not see from the pictures is that it had an enormously long stem, at least a foot long. I'm sure it made it easy to train to prevent stress from the vine. The color and shape looked even better in person that it does in the photos. And their new Iowa state record pumpkin was great too. It had a stem nearly as thick as my biceps, and I'm not a little guy. Dan and Marc have some tremendous genetics in their seeds, great soil, and should be considered one of the top challengers for a new world record.

The 964.5 is off the 1086 Est C&P (552 sherwood squash X selfed) squash grown back in 2004..yes that was when there were no 1000# plus squash yet....and that one went down to hair line crack thru the stem end. 2 days before weigh off...we had no idea there was even a problem...this 1086 Est was by the tape only..personally with 12" walls we think that this 1086 est was going to go alot closer to 1200 then 1100...but what can you do....it happens.... The 946.5 was selfed as it was the only greenie we grew in 2006....We never planted it in 2005 insted we went back with the 552 Sherwood and the year was a wash with drought. we lost everything...BUT jack Larue grew it as did Jim Sherwood...jack told me to grow it..in his opinion it had alot of potential and thought I should try it..I guess it went pretty good for us in 2006...Glad you guys like it... That's an awesome looking squash! You gotta love that it's selfed. If I were growing a squash, that seed would likely be it. Might be very good for adding darker green color to another squash genetic.

Perhaps we could throw a third greenie in the patch and cross it back with the 848. the 964.5 is very perfectly round and Im going to have to think about putting it in the ground this year instead of next.....so many choices......
