I am new to trying to grow a huge pumpkin. My question is: Do I have a good chance at growing a huge pumpkin where I live in central Missouri? If so, what are the basic first steps in doing so, (after selecting seeds), should I start indoors?, best way to start new seeds?, fertilizing suggestions(when and how much),I live in a river bottom and have very fertile soil, my garden does extremely well with minimal fertilizing in late fall, and early spring with well rotted manure tilled in the top six inches, as well as peat tilled in also. ANY POINTERS? THANK YOU.

Sounds like you live in garden heaven! Keep adding lots of manure to build up your soil. Missouri could probably grow a 600+ pounder with the right care. I suggest getting How to Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins I and II by Don Langevin, it will explain alot of things. If you would like some seeds e-mail me and I will set you up with some great ones.
