What are dormant oils? I believe they were used in the 1960's. Are they similar to products such as neem oil?

Dormant Oils are refined from Petroleum. Superior Oils are similar but more highly refined to permit warmer weather/summer use. JMS Stylett Oil is similar but refined a little more.
Neem oil works in much the same way by suffocating pests & creating a barrier against intruding pathogens.
