i was wondering if the pollen that is applied to the flower which pollinates the fruit has anything to do with the size of the pumpkin the same way that if a male german shepard was to breed a poodle the pups would be to big for the poodle to have. just a long winter thought. dan

Dan your Sheppodles would be like the seed, in your new pumpkin. The new seed will have the mixed qualities (genetics), of the parents and all the grandparents and great grandparents. Your pumpkin has multiple seed pockets each which may produce different sets of genes in the seeds of a given pocket and different outcomes when grown. I have no knowledge about differences in a given seed pocket but I suspect there would or could be. If this were easy to study and engineer we would all be growing the same hot seed.
