The 2007 Ailts/Landry Benchmark Study continues to grow. The rise of larger fruit has begun to show the need for a larger benchmark. The limited data we have now lends itself to a fledgling Benchmark for 1200 pound progengy. It appears as if 1200 grow fast from day 10 on and keep on growing. The Benchmark will be revised as more data becomes available. Here is the preliminary data I have for the new 1200 pound benchmark.
Day 10 = 25" Day 20 = 77.2" Day 30 = 118" Day 40 = 146.8" Day 50 = ? Day 60 = ?

Steve, What day was it you cut the stem because of the super max growth rate?, Id stick that in there next to your Day #.

man brooks you just can't let a guy forget can you. lol btw i didn't cut the stem i notched the main leaving some plant to feed it at day #73. i was concerned about a sag line that i felt could split. when i cut the pumpkin up this fall it was one inch thick in one of the ribbs.

I have more stats to follow up with later in the new year. However I would like to get more replys from the + 1200 pound Growers.
For instance there are a number of records for fruit sizes at the 10 day intervals. These are very relevant numbers. The disclaimer being of course that case size is often not the final weight determination.
The goal of the study remains as a benchmark only. Another tool for the grower to reference.

There are now well over 100 fruit above 1200 pounds listed in the AGGC. Joe can work magic with numbers. I love to work with stats.
I now have a submission form. Please send an email for a copy or simple reply by email with your data. The most recent copy of the 2006 Benchmark study is available at the GVGO home page under the files and articles index section.
