Subject: Checking seeds before sending them

I have traded seeds with over 100 growers this year and many growers even some of the best send me hollow seeds by accident. A way of checking the seed is by dropping it on a wood table top it will sound solid if it is a good seed and sound hollow like a corn chip if it is bad. Matt

Matt the drop test is a good thing. In early December I mailed seeds to about 40 growers. One grower informed me that 3 of 6 seeds he got were hollow, according to the "drop" test. I did the drop test on all the remaining seeds and found 13% from one pumpkin and 6% from another were hollow. These seeds all looked like mature seeds.
