Now that the pumpkin season is well over, should we start to add ferts, manure, etc to the pumpkin patch or should we wait? Is there a certain time that adding to the patch is any better or worse in the fall?

Yes, now: the longer the manure and fertilzer is there, the more natural the situation can be next grow season.
You also can wait for a bit cooler weather, manuring is a heavy job.

Start collecting those coffee grounds from StarBucks.....I learned yesterday their company policy states if there are grounds left at the end of the day to throw them away.......
I picked up close to 80 lbs yesterday......all free

I think to buy compost somewhere may be harder to find than in the spring. Did starbucks charge for the grounds?? I have a Starbucks in my mall where I work. Maybe they would be will to give some up. Does anyone know of any natural sources to lower the ph in my soil?? I was bad in not testing my soil, only finding that most of it is not on the low side, and we had added lime on top of that. So I have been adding pine needles as I heard this is a good source to help lower it, but I am running out. Any other suggestions??

Starbucks grounds are free, first come first serve, Not all stores do it, most do, I have located them within my area and have stopped at them, & at times to come home with 100lbs....seems like a lot until put into the garden. I have quite a bit of dirt so I used a bunch, 100% weed free too. Go to www.ColoradoPumpkins.com and click on the Starbucks logo. It will take you to their program site. Its a worldwide program for them so let us help them out.

Soy Bean Straw and Peat Moss both have a ph average of 4.0. They will also increase your OM.

at our starbucks they hand out the grounds in silver, metalic bags, very clean, but what I do is go to the counter, (when it isn't too busy) and ask for the big bag they have under the counter, usually 25-50lbs worth, then they double bag it, so no muss, no fuss, the problem here is COMPETITION!!! some times I go home empty handed....

Yup. like Steve said now is the best time. Start with soil samples, then giver........when the results come in. You'll have a sore back by the end of October. Add OM, N and molasses before the samples come back to help break down the OM. Other adjustments can wait until the results are in. So get started.........

dear rootbeer maker, my pumkins all blew in early august... since then i have been adding trailer loads of rotten leaves..the poop is coming by the trailer loads this weekend.. and next.. then till and cover crop.. williamsport grower, scott
