Well, should I slice off the main vine? I am wondering if it would make any difference in pumpkin growth if I slice the main vine that runs next to and past the pumpkin? In other words, seems more of a pain keeping the main running down the hill scaring and bashing into my pumpking? Vine runs down past set pumpkin about 6' and dies anyway, so what can it hurt? Also, sure will take the pressure of the stem.

On my 1230 Daletas plant last year the main vine ended it-self after the fuit. The vine went from an inch and a half in diameter (before the fruit) to less than a half an inch(after the fruit). In my opion you would be just fine to cut the vine off right after the fruit.
