My secondary vines have a couple problems. For one, some of them (especially the ones near the stump) seem shorter than normal. Secondly, two of them have stopped growing earlier than they should have. The "uncurling" cluster of the tiny vine and leaves at the end of the vine seems to have stopped growing on those two vines. On these two vines, there seemed to be an unusually large number of male flowers close together at the "uncurling" part. Does this sound like a deficiency? pest? mutation? How will it affect my plant? Overall, the plant is healthy, green, and pest free. The secondaries are my only concern.
Thanks, Jamie

Jamie.......It just sounds like pumpkin, to me. As soon as secondary vines number three and four are out and developing nicely I bring them 45 degrees right back over the ground beside where I remove vine one and vine two. Vines five and six follow and end up at abouth ten and two thinking of a clock face. Secondary vines seven and eight are back to 90 degrees off the main or whatever looks good with the covering, of the patch. I guess this is modified X-Mas Tree pattern.
