Should they be cut off or left on? Does it make a difference? They are the bigger older leaves and are broke in half, torn, and generally look like crap. If they are not hurting the plant I'll leave them on, but if they are hindering it I'll cut them off. Opinions please.

I'm no expert, but I think leaves should be thought of as not one sun-collecting mechanism that stops working if broken, but as many cells that can work by each other, collecting energy even when half of the leaf is gone. I think the leaves are still contributing to the plant and would leave them on, but that's just me.

Wait till there completely gone , then discard them, unless there lying on your fruit, or stump. I agree with Jamie. Keep a healthy plant, but it doesnt have to look pretty, were growing Pumpkins. I remind myself of that everytime i see some leaf damage.

Leave them as long as possible. After they are fully expanded each leaf is a worker in the food factory or "source" material.

Well now here is a note to consider. If the leaf or leaves in question happen, to be knocking other leaves around or shading good leaves I wack them. The good leaf will expand and become a larger single leaf, in the canopy.

Hey Chad, a wise man (Stan Pugh) once told me "as long as it is still green, and not blocking the growth of other leaves, keep it on"
Much like the Doc has said and very good advice.
Was up at Birkenhead lake over the long weekend and wanted to look you up but ran out of time.....still time for a patch tour??
