Hi, I was trimming some leaves around a newly pollinated fruit because they were blocking its path to "lay down", when I carelessly made a small scrape in the pumpkin. It immediately started bleeding liquid to fill the tiny scrape. Should I be worried? Does anyone have advice?
Thanks, Jamie

If it's just a surface scrape, it will heal fine. You will get a scar that grows bigger with the pumpkin. Some folks put a little Captan/water paste over the scrape in case of fungus getting to the wound. Not bad insurance. Will also leave a bit of scar/mark as it grows.

Thanks Andy. I'm glad its not too big a problem. I'll try to get some Captan on there.

Should I be worried about the fruit aborting from the stress? I just pollinated it this morning.

Never be worried, if it aborts, it wont be because you sratched it, i tend to scatch or nick mine, and once even hit the mature fruit with a 3Lb sledge hammer, when i missed the rebar stake in the ground. Going to have a mark on her when she grows up, but that gives them charactor. Great luck!
