hello i got a question how do you go about shipping ag pollen,a friend of mine and i are wondering how to ship pollen that has been frozen in airtight containers,(see john vanhooks diary), we want to be able to share pollen as each of us have different genetics that we want to add to this years selections,anyone have any ideas suggestions or experience,if so please email me or answer here i greatly appreciate it! god bless ya keith

Burr, I always wanted to try this just to see if it would work, but I think a good way to send pollin would be to just overnight some male flowers that are going to open the next day instead of taking the pollin out of the flowers yourself and putting it into another container, maybe freeze a couple plastic 24 oz soda bottles with water with the caps screwed on tight should keep the flowers cool enough.

Agreed, send the male a day before it is to open, i would think it would have to be shipped with the stem in water.

Why not collect the pollen AFTER the flower opens then ship it in a small pill bottle?

Get some "I get'r done talk" that is reliable and many eyes will turn to this line. As of now I feel the fresh pollen is best collected the night before inside the male flower. It opens in time, for use, in the AM. The same coloration tips indicate when the male will open.

The answer to this might be pumpkin specific. If the answer is found it will likely be one, of us, experimenting.

Pollen stored cool last for weeks. Stored frozen it lasts for years.
