Hello everyone. This year was my first year at growing pumpkins with the ONLY whopper weighing in at 30#, but I'm addicted. It has become my new obsession, but I need you seasoned growers to "plant me"(if you will)in the right direction. I would like any advice on seed types growing conditions, or tricks of the trade. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
p.s.my wife now firmly believes that I am crazy.
thanks varget

start now for next year. Get your soil tested now that way you have plenty of time to correct anything. I'm working on gathering leaves and manure and grass clippings to add to my compost pile that I will add to the patch in spring. Don Langevins books are a must. try to get both. "How to grow World Class Giant Pumpkins" volumes 1 and 2. They have tons of info. There are tons of seeds choices. check out the seed message board for ideas. Join a local growers group. PA and Ohio both have one. And most importantly, keep coming back here!!! Good luck
