Hello Everyone, I live in north west Pa near Pittsburgh. I was wondering is there a better cover crop to use besides winter rye, or can I combined other types with the rye to get a green manure mix to till in next spring?

The local here suggested crimson clover. I'll anxiously see where this discussion thread goes

I have not tried any of these but there is a nice little article on cover crops in Nov/Dec Organic Gardening.

Scout: Hairy Vetch works well with winter rye and it's cold hardy, it will add more nitrogen than any other cover crop.
