I have exparimental 700+ squash plant that has ben outside
for over a month now testing out one of my coldframs.allready i have a masive and agressive plant thats just to pritty to kill,so i was thinking i might be able to stress the amount of N i give the plant through the hole part fo the season to keep it from flowering early.
what do YOU think? ? ?can this plant make it till the end of the season?I live in wisconsin. thanks!

I have never heard of stressing a plant in order to prolong its life. I would look for an early weigh-off in your area.

Instead, why don't you just pull any flowers off and not let it pollinate any fruit until the time comes to actually put a fruit on. YOU can control fruit development by pulling the flowers off. Most likely your plant/fruit will be done growing about 1 month befor weigh off anyway, why not let it do it's thing and shoot for the state fair instead, Steve

Leave the squash plant alone & ignore it ( give it a little water, fertilize it when you have nothing better to do & prune it only when it's sunny outside & you want to work on your tan).
Meanwhile plant a orange one & give it all the care you can, spend hours on that plant & at the end of the season take your largest to the weighoff.
I would be willing to bet you will be taking the squash.

How's that Hoss ....

fruit growth here in WI usually ends around sept 15th, depending on the weather and what contraptions you might have set up to make a non-natural environment to prolong growth.

if you want to keep it alive do so, and then just pick off all the flowers untill it is a good time to set a fruit. Since you started early, you will probably be setting a fruit way out on the main, depending on how long you have it run.

it is up to you, experiment since it is experimental....set a fruit in a couple weeks, see how long it grows. An early fair would be a good choice if you set a fruit early.

I will start my seeds today or tomorrow, depending and how much time i have and they will go out next week.
