i have this stump that is burning right now. as soon as it gets done burning, do you think it would be a good site to plant AG if i amend the soil? the location gets about 10-11 hours of sun a day, plus it is near( bout 50 feet) from my septic tank. do you think that will be a problem?

I personally would not plant where there is pure ashes. It sounds like it would be a good place if you dug out the ashes though. Tom Beachy

I'm at a loss on that one Pumpkinidiot. My guess would be no way! What did you use to start the fire in the first place. Gasoline maybe?......... Good luck to you.

Idiot, sounds like a good plan to me. Till the soil, amend, you shouldn't have much ash from the stump so not much worry there. We routinely spread ashes from our 4 local wood plants on our fields here in norhtern MN. Huge amounts can mess your PH up, but you can easily adjust with sulfur if need be. You'll get a good supply of sun in the spot with 10/11 hrs. Around here we try to plant near our septics since they warm the ground up in the spring. Best of luck, Steve
