hi all i hate this time of the year when everything starts to grow slow and go downhill, well anyway i was wondering if it is possible for a pumpkin to grow at all after the leaves have been hit by frost, the leaves are now on the ground and well i dunno what to do, most of the pumpkins are still yellow, and well i figure if i pick them then they will rot before holloween, so does anybody know if there is any way to make the pumpkins ripen faster, ive taken down shade shelters, what now??? ~Bill

dear wild bill:
Most pumpkins after the leaves have been hit with frost...the viens and plants will start to slowly shut down...you can cut and pick at this time...you need to leave the un-ripe pumpkin in the most sun and cover them at night so frost will not made them froze and start to rot in the cycle of sunny days and cold nights...i usally place the smaller ones on my lawn facing the sun in the morning...this will make then turn orange...i have seen some turn bright orange and some just a lite orange...
good luck...papagreg
