I should have posted this question about a month and a half ago, but better late than never I guess. I have a plant that splits into two main vines at the base. One main vine has NO pumpkins on it, they either aborted or were pruned. The other main vine has a 200lb+ pumpkin. This vine also has a secondary vine which has a 150lb+ pumpkin. My question is, would I have been better served to remove the main vine without any fruit, or let it go? Are the leaves on the 1st main vine providing nutrients to the pumpkins on the 2nd main? Space is not a problem in my garden, neither is the need for a backup plant.
