Tom,
About 4 days ago I just about cut two of my pumpkins up due to both of them having HUGE stem split holes in them..( I have 2 splits on each side of the stem on the 1097 Beachy, and 2 splits on each side of the stem on the 1446 Eaton)
I just wanted to thank you for emailing me telling me all is not lost yet and how you deal with stem splits when you get them, and also just because you have a a couple 2 inch holes in yout stem dosnt always mean its a gonner.
Them pumpkins where headed for the compost pile!
Thanks to you the 1097 Beachy is still putting on 2 and 3 inches in circumfrence a day,and the 1446 Eaton is still putting on 1 to 2 inches of circumfrence a day. The stem splits that are approx 2 inches long and about 2 and 3 inches deep have dried up excellent, the deconil done its job!! Now I can get back to watering in my normal way. Im just hoping they hold together now,LOL.

I say you leave the rookie ranks when you give a buddy a seed and he beats your butt all over the county with it because you also helped him enter the hobby.
I believe someone mentioned here that Danny Dill has yet to grow one a thousand pounds. He's the best rookie I know if if one needs to grow a thousand pounder to escape the term.

HAHAHA Tom!
Brooks, we're no longer rookies when we don't have to ask for help anymore!
