I've been doing OTT measurements every 5 days. I'm wondering at what age the pumpkin usually shows the largest daily weight gains? Day 25-30, 35-40, 40-45???

I don't know why but my biggest gains are between 40-50 days in the past. My Leah 1458 just turned 40d and is actually getting scary!! I just get scared if the growth is more than 30# a day which it now is. Fingers crossed at this stage in the game for the D.Chambers Garden, my 1019 split on Aug.11 in '03 at 50 lbs. a day for three days at near 42 days old. This is when I like to go out at night and watch the behemoth grow.If you're quiet you can hear it stretch & grow. Hooooowwwwwllllll!!!!

I guess it depends on the pumpkin and the climate. I doubt if I'll see 30+ lbs/day growth this year. Maybe that's a good thing.

I hit 35 on the 709 McCallum yesterday. I cringed when I looked at the chart and held my breath only to find a very deep stem split this morning. While the fruit may hold up until October I just knew what was going to happen. I had removed a fair bit of extra non-rooted growth in the preceeding two days and bingo she splits on me. The large gain was an indicator that I should have done something about by possibly removing a few leaves and thinned out the plant some more.

Dans 1432 avg over 50 for a few days. My 1125 did 45 lbs days 27 and 28. I hit 43 lbs day 30 on my 1083 state fair fruit this year. Anything over 40 gets a little nerve racking.
