We have lots of clay here so you need to add lots of fresh soil, like compost. Kevin

Ahhhh Ryan things are frozen in NC in January I am pretty sure. You see they have this thing called winter.:)..although I am sure their winter is like our fall. Going to have to climatize your self to the seasons.

I just want to say thanks for enabeling the rest of us to sleep a little better in this grand 'ole country of ours.

First thing to do is locate the land to grow on. The second most important is to find the endless supply of manure we need. The third is to follow all that with a cover crop.

Your new location makes no forgiveness for lack of good soil management just like any other location. You can do it anywhere considering the weather and available water.

Darn!!!! If I was anywhere close to your new location I would be willing, to help you turn that new soil into the best, in the area. Go for it. Start with solid basics.

I'm in western NC. I've been to Pope and Ft. Bragg many times and the soil is sandy and flat. Good luck on the move.

Welcome to the Tarheel state. I am in the northwestern part of the state in the mountains. The weather at Pope will be pretty hot in the summer months. If ya need some seeds let me know.

Watermellon country too maybe. I've discovered a very heat tolerant cross that I really wish I'd grown this year (darnit). I'll send some when you're settled this winter. Check your mail.

And like Dwaine said....THANK YOU!

Best wishes on the relocation.
