Wet conditions or disease can cause buried vines to rot. Is the whole vine rotten or just the leaves attached to the vines? I'm thinking that if you buried too deep, the leaf stalk bases might rot, but I'm not sure.

Toby-This happened exactly to me last year. This year I simply pinned down the mains and secondaries with cut up plastic hangers and am having my best year ever. Greg.

Toby. I bury all vines (well, more like cover them). Your ph is slightly high. I had that ph last year. Had the same problem you are having but it was a fungus. I applied triple phosphate (granular) and fungicide and the plant revived. If the vine is whole, not diseased, it could be the Ph. To help with nutrient uptake I was told to apply a half-palmful of epson salt (dissolved) in a hose-end sprayer all over the patch. Do you have a picture? Best wishes, Greg
