Has anyone else heard "The Sound" from their patch yet? Absolutely unforgettable! Guaranteed to increase your blood pressure at least 80 points!

The groan of a growing pumpkin is an awesome sound...Although some will say its from the heat of the sun. The use of restricted chemicals, or just plain being insane.

"The Sound" is the unmistakable "crack" when moving the pumpkin!

the sound is someone yelling for help as they try to dig a hole under it to relive stem stress and get caught

Ahh, the Sound...makes a grown man weak in the knees! 4 aborts, 1/2 cracked main and one finally set...on top of the main with a 2" stem! Trying to get no more than 1/4" movement, and it "happened" Not through and through, but enough to know ...well I don't really know...maybe it can...! Best wishes all! Duff

Be careful Stan. When I heard "the sound" last year I made the mistake of telling folks about it. Many still think I'm crazy. LOL
I'm sorry for your imminent loss.

Yeah Stan, I know that sound. Usually it comes from my lower back as I try to shove a sheet of pulp belt under the fruit by myself. Knee's buckle, wailing, tears, gnashing of teeth usually accompany that sound. However this year I haven't heard it because they are easy to move when they are no bigger than a bowling ball.

I`ve heard it too when I was trying to move the pumpkin I had desperatly waited to a better angle - ka-boom! Sore stomach and all that. I tried to fix it with some tape and hey it`s still growing.

You can "breath easy" Mike! Yours is on "full speed ahead" mode" and is looking terrific! If our 80° temps keep up like they have.....you could be pleasantly surprised come October! In the Pacific Northwest, pumpkins that are over 80" circ. by July 30 have a good chance of going over 1000#......assuming the "s" thing does not happen!
