I noticed yesterday that the vine attached to the stem of my pumpkin was torn due to the pumpkin growing over the vine. I repositioned the vine and releaved the stress, what should I do for the stem that is torn. Torn like down the length of the stem. Any help?

Try to keep it as dry as possible. One method is to put a fan directly blowing on it.

That may be hard to do since my patch is out in the field. Should I use some sort of tape to put it back together?

put something over it to keep the rain from getting at it. like a small shade structure, really small. angled toward the rest of the plant so it doesn't collect on top of it.....perhaps what is done is done, and squeezing it back together, or however it would need to be fixed, might add to the problem....

Thanks pumpkinpal2 for your reply. I will put up something today to shade the split, it looks like it is drying up. I may dust with some captan, thats all I have in powder form. I will not put the vine back together. It was the vine going to the stem, not the stem itself. Go cornfused.
