All my leaves are dying. However the pumpkin is going strong. Pumpkin is 35 days old and going strong. Will she be able to finish and grow to her potential with few leaves? Most of the leaves are staring to brown and look old. Oh No!

Use a fungicide to stop whatever's got your plant. You might want to use a 20-20-20 or something with some nitrogen to get more vine and leaves. You need leaf canopy. Best wishes, Greg

No....Treat the ones you have left with a fungicide and try to grow some new ones. If roots are the fuel line then leaves are the engine that drives the growth. You may need a soil drench as well....Good Luck

There are no bugs or fungus problems. Just a plant that the leaves are dying. I am using a fert that is 18-18-21 on a regular basis. So it is getting plenty of that. So whatz up!

Could be too much fertilizer and your salting up your soil with the stuff. How much plain old H2O is the patch getting? And how old is the plant?

I assume you are using a fungicide and insecticide at the correct rate. Tiller asked an important question. if you are watering too much, you may be cutting off oxygen to the roots. Do you have organics buried deep (past 6-8in)? Water would go into this area and cause an anaerobic zone which would produce toxins and that will affect your plant. Is there new growth? What do the new leaves look like? Dying or healthy? What do the leaves look like?

I use fertz once a week. I water every morning, they need it as of late been very hot! Leaves: Some are half brown and "Crunchy." No new growth to speak of. Plant was planted May 1st. Pumpkin was sexed June 28th. Like I said the leaves just look like they have come to their end. No more juice!

I've heard and seen leaves die off slowly over the course of 2-3 wks. But, not an entire plant all at once. The plant is stressed out about something. I assume the conditions are still good for growing? ie. full sun, hot but still workable temps? I'm no expert and you have to take what I say with a grain of salt. But, back off on drenching the soil... put water in (one or two) milk container(s). Poke a small hole in them then, put them around the stump. Let the water drip out. Don't water the patch for two days and let the ground dry out. Keep the water in the containers. After two days, observe your leaves and pumpkin. See how they respond. They'll tell you if they need more water. Are you using a fungicide?

I've read your responses and I have had the same problem, however, I always assumed the heat we have in this area to include extra furnace heat from local, hillside fires, that the growing season for my vines was shorter than in cooler areas. This year I have tried to really be consistant with watering and applying folar feedings of calcium, fish fertilizer and seaweed. During the afternoons the leaves started to hang down due to the severe heat. I use the drip system and started to water heavily. I also ran an overhead sprinkler at 10-15 min each day to refresh the leaves when the heat was really like a furnace. By evening the leaves were back to normal. When the fires were out I stopped the overhead watering. The leaves have been dying back and turning yellow for the last month but the vines continue to grow and put on more leaves at the middle and end of the vines. I used a fungicide early on but I thought that the seaweed acted as a fungicide too. Should I have continued applying fungicide or have I been watering too much?
