Some of my first secondary vines are showing their age and their leaves are breaking. Does anyone have hard data to prove that one or two stump suckers, when groomed just right, would not act like new "secondaries" off the main vine?

Dang. I had several stump suckers that were definately trying to form secondaries. Some were as long as a foot. I never even considered using them as new secondaries to replace the older dying ones. Hey, if they try to come back again, I'm gonna try it. What would it hurt?
