Most of us now have pumpkins 20 to 40 days old. At this age one can usually tell what shape and color the fruit will have at harvest time. So, what seeds look like they will give you a (nicely shaped) orange pumpkin?
I can definitely tell that the pumpkins on my 801.5 Stelts 97, the 670 Daigle 03, the 869.5 Calai and the 846 Jutras will be like this. Probably also the 1125 Frantz but I have problems setting fruit on this one.

So far the 338 Rahe (588 Beachy x 955 Stelts)...Very orange
And the 800 Dieffenbaugher (845 Nesbitt x 846 jutras) This thing is gonna be like neon orange by the time things are over, the color on this thing is just awesome!! Nice Cross Christy!

hey martin i like the new handle. i have one on the 915.5 dieff. that i think is going to be real orange.also the 1101 northrup is a real nice yellow so i think it will turn orange when it matures.the 1125 frants is still pretty small but it is real yellow also. i have an 1125 x 1101 cross a 1101 x 1125 cross and 915.5 x self.

329 wolf (790 daletas x 846 calai) 425 wolf (658 wolf x 801)
both going to be pretty ones for my wife.
my 522* is a very interesting neon yellow color, unlike anything i've seen at this point. going to be a bright one. 313 bailey (1230 x 801) is also going to be pretty.

721.8 Companion will be very orange. Shape is typical of that sloping look you get from the 567/801 genes. Also, 846 Jutras. Showing a bit less color than 721 at the moment, but better shape, and longer stem. (getting three lobed females from this plant. Anybody else?) My fruit are under 20 days, so time will tell on the color, but those two look they are that deep yellow that will indicate better orange later on... Also I had an 800 Dieffenbaugher going as backup to the 721 but decided to let the 721 go (sorry Christy...). Depending on how Mike does with his, 800 may move up to my very short list for next year...great promise in that seed.

I am a newbie using regular stock AG seeds and so far all 8 plants are orange and growing well. Except I lost a 100 pounder to fungus yesterday. But I'm learning the ropes and hoping to hit the random seed lottery. I'll post a makeshift photo diary soon.
hopefully someone will be nice enough to give me some seeds from proven stock for next year :) Jim

The 621 Welty 02 had grown me an orange one in 03. Also this year I grow the 621 and the pumpkin has the same color and shape as in 03. Also the fruits on the 891 Tanner, there are 3 now, very orange from the start.

Don, make sure to position your 1420 well! Consider the "Monty-Method"! You know what happened to the 1420 in Sweden....
