Hi, All 3 of my plants are what many of you would consider small. The main vines are all around 25', but they all have either few or small secondaries. On average I'd say that the plants only have 150-175 leaves and many of those are only 6-9". A recent soil and plant analysis test showed no lack of nutrients, poor ph, om, or cec. I get 8-9 hours of direct sunlight and the soil drainage is fair. They were planted on early May and my largest pumpkin is about 70 lbs and growing slow. Some of the newer secondaries are starting to grow faster now and are 2-4' long. Should I cut them and bury to conserve energy for the pumpkin? Or should I let them grow so the plant has more leaves to feed help feed the pumpkin. Thanks Tony

Your early leaves have a lot of days, on them. I would let your newer secondaries set some leaves and then terminate if you have the space, to do that.

Once a week use of foliar fed fish, kelp and molasses may help. Having it, in the soil, is not always available, for various reasons. Plants that small can do what they can do. Some very nice pumpkins have been grown on relatively small plants. Good luck on your grow.

Thanks Dwaine, pretty much what I thought and what I am currently doing. Tony
