I have two fruit set on my 1076 Werner. The one on the main is extreamly misshaped. It is growing fast and has increased circumferance by 20" in six days. There is one day differance in pollination date, both are five lobe fruit and both are crossed with the 1068 Wallace. The OTT measurements are very similar, however I have been measureing the misshapen one in the centre. The second fruit is set on one of the early secondaries but is a small diameter secondary. Both fruit have very little vine growth after the fruit. Here is a link to my diary showing both fruit: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=39073 Has anyone had any experiance with this type od fruit shape? Is this a dill ring and is they a chance it will be weak in the middle section? All comments apreciated

That is a funny bell shaped pumpkin. With ribs like those and the bell shape it looks, as if it was starting to ripen. I would slowly cut it off, over three or four days.
The other pumpkin is only 1 day younger and it looks much younger too. The skin is still fairly smooth.

i would personally go with the one on the secondary, as it appears that the shape of the peanut will become a problem....ALTHOUGH Jack LaRue had an (1109) that had similar shape last year, if memory serves. i would not worry about the diameter of the secondary vine, as it will pretty much always be smaller than the main's. and, if it's feeding the only fruit on the plant, probably everything the plant has to offer will get to the fruit in good time. good luck with your decision! eric
