ok, my 950 boyton is growing like crazy still and I need advice because I want to do this right. 526 lbs day 34, she is getting close to the vine in one spot, sooooo I need to know how to pull the pumpkin back a few inches. Never done this before, so do I just pull it straight back, or walk it a little backwards, etc? I have one stem split on my stem, so hoping it is still ok to move it:) Any advice is welcome. Thank you. Jimmy

Try moving the vine and not the 526 lbs. pumpkin. Kevin

Jimmy pictures would be really good. this is a delicate operation, the more eyes you get to look at it the better you'll be in the long run.

Ya if I was in your spot, I would probably start cutting the tap roots at each node around the fruit and slowly moveing the vine outward with sticks.

Get a small stake and an old pair of nylon stockings and pull the vine away from the pumpkin. Put the stake about a foot away from the vine and wrap the nylons around the stake and vine several times and use the elasticity of the nylons to keep constant pressure on the vine. Re-wrap about once a day. Be careful!!

i will someday introduce the world to the Eric Gerry
pumpkin-moving method, which i have never had any touble
with, but i would not ever want anyone to use it on their
(only?) fruit. all the above are very good suggestions. EG
