Seeing that the 10 and 20 day marks are being tossed around, what is everyones so far? Amongst the 7 plants in our garden I have everywhere from 20.5 at day 10 to 36 at day 10.

Today is day 10 for me,,,measured 31" Round. This is the last time I lift it up to slide a cloth measurer under. I can't take the stress.

My best, and first ever, 20 day was something like 55-1/2 yesterday. So, it looks like I'll need some miraculous growth in order to pull of the "rookie sets world record" upset. :-)
Mind you, I haven't checked it today. It could be at 91" :-)

Nezzie, how are you measuring the circumference? I don't think you are supposed to measure it under the pumpkin. I think you are supposed to measure it parallel to the ground. So, the tape would go from the blossom end to the stem around the side of the pumpkin and then from the stem to the blossom on the other side (or whatever the widest part of the pumpkin is).
Am I right about that folks?

91" circ, not OTT. In another thread it was mentioned that there is another fruit out there that went 92" on day 20. I invite anyone to come and measure it, but it better be soon. It will be over 100 tomorrow. Pics are in the diary, no sand bagging here.

Excellent start in the Ailts patch-
857 Neuville: 35.5" day 10, 64" Day 15 905B Ailts: 32" day 10, 61" Day 15 905C Ailts: 27.5" day 10, 55" Day 15 842 Eaton: 34.5" day 10
6 fruit have surpassed the 25" benchmark on day 10, thats a record for this happy grower.

Wow, some great numbers early on! I think we need to remember what Dan Carlson suggested a few days ago here. That big later gains are needed to get to 1000 lbs. At day 10 we are only putting a few pounds a day. Can our plant, pumpkin, soil, the weather, support what's needed to pack on serious pounds to reach 1000. I'm guessing that only a very small percentage of pumpkins that reach the day 10 and 20 day benchmarks with measurements that put them on 1000 lb. pace, actually make 1000 lbs. or more. It's fun to dream though.

Looks like Mr. Ailts is going to have something around the 90" mark by day 20 as well...I have to keep the 905 and 1367.5 going strong now. I want to have at least one that weighs in line with my mentors...;)

Somewhere in a post here on Bigpumpkins.com a grower stated that "the first 500 pounds are easy, it is the next 500 that are difficult"
Always bearing that in mind, I can still get excited with my 10 day numbers.

Remember grower, it all depends on your location as to how fast the initial growth is determined to be "above normal". The East Coast has had far above normal temps this year. The Pacific Northwest has had much cooler than normal temps. We cannot "hold a candle" to your measurements out East! We are hoping that September will stay warm.
