Just wondering what you all use for water ,... city , well ...other ?, and if so do you filter and sofen it before you water or straight out of the well ? And if straight out of the well do you heat it at all or let the cold water run ? Do water spec as to minerals etc ...play any part as to weight gain or loss ?

I got a carbon filter from Charley's and will hopefully carry them next season at PumpkinSupply.com. Works great!

town water here, straight from the tap, no need to warm as it's not that cold as it's river water which is then run through the treatment plant, i tried the filtering thing a few years ago, forget it! the filters were clogging up in no time due to all the organics in my water.

Plain tap water here, when needed. I checked it's pH and chlorine levels with my pool test kit when I first started and found a near neutral pH and chlorine levels below 0.5 ppm, so it looked OK to me. Besides, none of the other garden plants have ever complained over the years :)

town water here. I've used it for years on my peppers and always got blue ribbons at the fair, so...why change a good thing?

Well water.
Usually it's rain water direct from the clouds, which I much prefer, as long as no strong winds or hail come with it.

I use city water from the tap and lake water from out back I wouldnt use softened water it would probably raise your sodium levels. HMMMM they make a potassium based water softening stuff that you use instead of salt I wonder if that would help???? HMMMM

Creek water. I dried up my garden well two weeks ago and now depend on it unless it rains. I'm hauling 200-400 gals per day. No real measurable rain in 6 weeks.

Well water stored in black drums to temper it with outside ambient somewhat. Delivery by drip T-Tape adjusts it, to gound temperature along the way, to delivery into the patch.

Thermal shock may be small but this is a sport, of little things, being the best we can administer.
