milford, CT,

I had some problems with my 1230 Daletas this year and finally it looks like I have a pumpkin set. The only problem is that the stem is coming right off the top of the vine. What problems will I have? Also does anyone have any suggestions about positioning this pumpkin? I've thought about trying to rotate the vine but they are very thick(2")and are prone to cracking(that was the problem I had with this plant). It has a decent stem (4") Any advice would be great. I crossed it with an 898 Knauss and even if it isn't a monster I'm most interested in it for next years seed.

Take a look at my 2004 diary. I had a problem that sounds a lot like yours and I got it fixed really well. Look for the entries from about July 10th to 25th. Must be there...

Be careful Gordon...There was a peice on the radio last week that suggested Americans spend 2.5 hours per day wasting time mostly on the internet! LOL

Mark, If push & shoove doesnt work, you might cut the main after the fruit leaving all you can while still being able to reposition the fruit.

milford, CT,

Thanks guys,I'll wait for a nice hot day when she is pliable and manipulate the vine as you said. In the worst case I'll do some cutting. Wish me luck! Mark

Martin, good thinking on getting that pumpkin to lay the way it did.
