I went out to my patch this morning and sure enough what did I find again?... a new batch of slime mold/fungi. I couldn't get over it. I have been growing pumpkins for 5 or 6 years and never had slime mold before. It was really hot here today so the heat dried a good amount of it by the end of the day. At one time I even saw what looked liked red globs of a jelly like substance in it. I guess you were right about the changes it can go through. Just the same, I still think I would prefer not to see it in my patch. I put a picture of the new batch in my diary for those who are into looking at slime... lol. Hey, how come the fungi slime in my sink and refrigerator never has any interesting characteristics.

lol,,its spores ride the wind,,worm, etc,,, fungus is a "time of season growing"sign"".,, It has rained every day since the first hurricane land.
I wonder if there will be a mass AG female bloom opening/set "time period",,?,,,.say,,,next,,full moon or "change of moon".
The old farmers round here, overload me, with"signs"(natures flow)rules,,,to grow by.

Slime mold - Mycetozoa... common name of slime mold, reinforces the misconception that these are true fungi. They have similar capabilities and systems for decomposing as fungi.(were once classified under the same kingdom. Many still consider them 'fungi'.) But the slime molds are actually closer in kin to Amoebas.
Slime molds now have their own distinct kingdom.
Slime molds can be a mass of individual cells with distinct cell walls (dictyostelids) Or they can be a mass of cytoplasm and nuclei - with no distinction between cells (myxogastrids)
Myxogastrids are the large, brightly colored, Plasmodium masses that most people can visualize when you say slime mold...
All you never wanted to know about slime molds **grin** the mold in your tub is a 'true fungi'
