I am still relatively new to this sport but I know about the birds and bees and pollinating pumpkins. The problem that I am having on my 1124 Hester is that none of the male flowers grow any bigger than 2 inches and consequently they never bloom. Has any one ever seen this before and is there a way to get some pollen from these underachievers? By the way the female flowers seem fine and I have already set a couple of females ( using different pollen). I was thinking of spraying the males with Viagra!!!

haha.....this happens in all species
I know of a lot of underachieving males and females, also know a lot of overachieving ones
I have seen this a few times. Always made me wonder if the plant was sterile, or what the deal was.

okay, do we think that a splash of high-phosphorous water soluble drench will help? that's the first thing i would do, but not one with a high nitrogen content!
so, 55 gal. of Miracle-Gro and water at 1 TBSP. per gallon would be what i would try, on one plant. i assume no liability unless you grow a thousand-plus! eric
