I have found that I have less problems when I cut the main all the way off right at the Pumpkin stem. What happens, most of the time, is the vine running by the pumpkin "bashes" into the pumpkin and causes more harm then it's worth. My question is, do I take away energy from the plant? Does anyone else do this? If not, how I do I keep the vine from beating the "crap" out of the pumpkin and breaking the stem off the pumpkin? It seems so much easier just to terminate vine!

its up to you. for me, circumstance will dictate what i do. if i had terminated my vine earlier this year, id have no opportunity for anything at this point, so im glad i didnt. with that said, i grew my 1030 with the vine terminated immediatly after the stem. I didnt put any curves in the vine, and i was left with no other choice.
