Okay, this is bad in so many ways, and I know that, but because of turning vines to position fruit, I've got two main vines that have crossed. We're past the time where it can be avoided. Please, don't ask me how it happened. I feel like Ben Stiller in the bathroom at the beginning of "There's Something About Mary" If this has ever happened to anyone before, or for those who provide sufficient space for your plants but want to stretch your imagination a bit, what do you all recommend to protect both mains? I was thinking halved 1 1/2 inch pvc pipe to keep the top vine from crushing the bottom vine.
Thanks as always!

even several hundred pound pumpkins dont "crush" pumpkin vines they all cross out in the field all the time and I dont have any problems....you can always pick one up and move it....

We planned for a cross last year by slightly trenching the first vine & setting it down first. Pruning secondaries was awkward but it worked.

Crossed mains don't bother each other, they can touch, but its easy to lose track of whichis which and whats main and whats secondary, especially if you bury. I grew a 275 and 545 on same plant and nothing on another plant due to confusion

Crossed mains, mean crossed leaves which provides for poor air circulation and eventually the dreaded PM. I would trim or thin the leaves of each vine to allow for minimum clearance between them.

I'd just throw a little dirt between the two vines where they touch. And maybe clip out the extra leaves like Russ mentioned if they're jumbled all together.

Put up a road sign so the plants know which way to send the big pumpkin juices. Can't have them be confused, at the crossroads.
I'd toss in a shovel full of sand between and over the crossroad.
When something odd like about five or so feet, in diameter and yellow to orange shows up, you will know you have done something right. :)))
