my pumpkin on my 950 boyton is at day 18 today, 52.75" circ, 41 ss, 40.5 ee for 134.24" ott, growing 4.5 inches a day now. I'm so happy for this growth on a stumpless plant growing on a secondary main vine, plus I lost 100 sq foot of plant to rot from the stump. Hopefully it will continue to grow well! :) Jimmy

What use is it providing the fruit by being measured with the tape. Visual observations should be all that is needed. Every time you measure the fruit you are compacting the soil around it. Touching the fruit with your hands and the tape two or three times a measurement to insure that you have he highest numbers can possiblely stress the fruit also. This year I will not touch the fruit except to adjust it's position to the vine.

360 moore stopped growing on day 34 @ 278 3/4 ott est 461 lbs it developed stump rot. The plant looks good , not wilting etc. I cut the rotted part off of the stump so we will see if it does anything else , but I imagine its done. My 753 pappas fruit is @ 150" ott est 80 lbs on day 17. I agree with John statement above everytime you touch the fruit you risk scratching it. I think I will leave the rest alone.

John why do we watch an entire football game ? When all you have to see is the final score. Measuring is part of the hobby.

Shannon Oh how I remember those football games. Waiting all week for the Big Game of the season. They are winning by three points, we have only time for one more play and time out is called. The kicker who has not missed a field goal in the last 12 games, the ball holder gets the jitters and is taken off the field. The back-up holder struts on to the field and takes his position. Every one in the stadium is standing up and praying for there team. The ball leaves the centers hand and goes straight to the ball holders hand. The ball holder catches the ball and places it on the field. The Kicker's leg moves toward the ball and all the players stand to watch the ball. BUT the ball is still in the ball holders hand, He looks to the right and throws the ball toward the end zone. If he catches the ball or not the game will be over but my Pumpkin will be ready for the scales.
