welcome to the club ... i think 80% of us here on BP are members.
at least you have a good story behind yours - most of ours aren't very good ... like ... "I'm so stupid. I was trying to reposition the vine and snap !"
good luck with it.

I´m in...I was not stupid...it just happened. Too much rain, too cold. The main just decided to terminate itself. Right at the point with a nice female that was almost ready to be a keeper around 12 ft :)

Same as floh here main of of my own 917ghaye and 1458whitthier terminated themselves.582hester broke itself cause it's tendrils were attached to a bambo-stick.My plants grow 'tips in the air', and an accident with a bird, rain,or something dropped on it, or tendrills happens easily in that case i think.I'm supporting the main vine tips of my remaining plants with bambo-sticks now,and check them twice a day.If you lose a main vine earlyier in the season, you can train a secondary, but if it happens just at fruitsetting time,it's a serious problem.Even if you have a fruit set...

Count me in too. My 475 Barrett snapped its tip right off last week about 13 foot out. A secondary has come right up and taken over the job though.

i have tried adjusting a vine 3 years ago in the dark after coming homing at night drunk as a skunk and thought an s curve seemed like the right thing to do at the time.

i have had mother nature grow them straight up and over on calm days with no reason but their own weight and rapid growth.

i have had wind do it twice ths year.

stupid is as stupid does and Mother Nature has a cruel sense of humor. i couldn't tell you how many secondaries i have snapped in the morning adjusing vines. that is why i never adjust the main vine last of all to see how my secondaries react as a pretest to the rigidity or pliability of the plants.

you are definately not alone.
