What turns out to be a better pumpkin in the end. One under the flower thats football shaped, or golf ball shaped. Last year had a patch golf ball shaped and produced a nice round orange one and a big orange chunky one my heaviest. Other patch had footballs more long yellow orange in the end. Whats your thoughts on this?

I like football shaped fruit. I think a long fruit has a better chance of weighing more than a round one. On the other hand "wheel" shaped fruit tend to go heavy.

round fruit usually means heavier because of the thickness in the shoulders and blossom area ( my thoughts only ) but in the end round , egg, birdbath or beatle shaped are ok by me so long as they are healthy and stay growing to the end if i could pick out the perfect pumpkin considering shape, size and color it would be the 1200 plus 2003 joe jutras pumpkin the most beautiful pumpkin ive ever seen

yeah, Joe's fruit was a real beauty. The only other one in the 1000/+ range that can hold a candle to it is in my opinion the 1101 Northrup 04.
