hopefully somebody might have time to give me some info if you have it!! im trying to find out distance out the pumpkins that were over say 1200 lbs or so were at ??i looked at vol # 3 & on pg no 99 & the 1337 was at 13 ft & many other hevey pumpkins were at between like 1090 at 10 ft, &1058 at 14 ft , & 1096 at 11 ft ---- so most were less than 14 ft but i just wondered what the 1200 pluss es were at ??i only know the 1432 carelson was far )like) 20 or so . just because people say farther the more plant to push with !!! but some say that farther is also farther for nutrents to travel !! of course you have to take into account that plant lives so long & pollen date !! but what if farther is still in time fram than ?? just wondered what is latest distances of the heavest pumpkins were ??? thanks glenn

Thanks Tom, that is great info. Soooo....if I pollinate at the average of 15 feet it is possible to grow the average of 1259.5...I like those odds.

Now a newbie would ask, "What are my chances of growing a 1200 pounder if I pollinate it at 15 feet out?"

It shows me some monsters have been grown at 10' an 11' out. I was surprised especially, that the two largest official pumpkins last, were at 10' and 11' out.

Wentzells grew a couple over 1000 lbs at only 6 feet out.

Analyzing fruit set of over 5000 pumpkins shows that the average fruit sets at 11.8 ft out on the vine with a standard deviation of 3.7.

thanks Tom! I wonder if fruit set at the same distance from seed of same parents. Is there any information on that?
