I know this question has been asked a million times but I'm just to lazy to search and need fresh new answers. So I have many female flowers on my 812 Landry, which is doing very well. I have one female per vine and more. The main has two so far. One is opening tommorow 8ft out and the other still growing and small at 11ft out, there are also secondaries at 4 to 8ft out. Which ones should I pollinate and how many. Or should I wait until a distant one comes. (Main at estimated 14ft and want to grow it to 25ft) The problem with waiting is falling behind. Other growers in the area are starting to pollinate now and I am undecided with little time left. Thanks for your help!

if you want to grow for competition you must cut off all side vine pumpkins ( now )
pollinate only on the main and after you have set three fruit pick the best and go with it
if you just want a bunch of pumpkins you could leave one on the main and one or two on each half of the plant

First, if other growers are pollinating, they are early. July 2-10 is considered by most to be "prime time." I wouldn't worry about being behind. Also, I would pollinate any and all females 8 feet out and further. If you get a hot streak and the one female that was "prime" decides to abort, you are left waiting for another female to open and possibly going beyond July 10th. If all pollinations are successful, you can cull whatever you want and consider yourself lucky the Pumpkin Gods shined upon you. Good luck.
